3M expands its privacy filters range to more devices - touch screens and new Apple products

3M, the science-based technology company, has announced that its range of Gold and Black Privacy Filters is now extended to fit a variety of popular touch-screen laptops and mobile tablets, from 11.6 to 15.6-inch diameter displays. Fading to gold or black from a 30-degree side angle and effectively blacked-out beyond 60 degrees, the range helps users keep on-screen information private from onlookers.

3M film technology in these new touch privacy filters means that they are much thinner than standard filters, ensuring that users still get a consistent touch experience. Plus, they do not impact on the slim closure of Macbook clamshell design, so there is no risk that the laptop is not fully powering-down when the lid is closed, which can drain the battery life.

Separately, 3M has also extended its range of Gold Privacy Filters to fit the new Macbook Air and Macbook Pro products from Apple.

Whether touch-screen or not, the entire range has been engineered to provide the best possible viewing experience and performance. Visual clarity is not compromised, so there is no need to turn up the brightness ratio, which can also drain batteries. The filters fit to the very edge of bezel-free, flat-fronted screens which are increasingly used in modern devices. Designed for robust everyday use, the filters can be easily applied and removed as needed with the adhesive attachment strips supplied (replacements can be ordered free of charge from the 3M Privacy and Protection website).

“Privacy filters are becoming increasingly popular to help prevent screens of all kinds from unauthorised viewing, whether casual or intentional, helping people to keep sensitive or confidential information private and to reduce the risk of security breaches,” says Peter Barker, EMEA Market Development Manager at 3M. “These latest additions to the range are part of its continued evolution, responding to what people are using, while ensuring excellent product quality and reliability.”
