Internet TV provider netgem.tv today announced the launch of the next-generation of smart TV service to hit the Irish market with Harvey Norman. The all-in-one place TV service will bring TV streaming experience to a new level for Ireland consumers. Irish viewers are falling out of love with traditional Pay TV packages: a staggering 25 points of market share lost by Sky and Virgin over the last 4 years - and going for “Saorview + streaming” skinny TV packages through “self bundling”.

Saorview is extremely popular and hosts strong broadcasters such as RTE, but it can be complicated to also have access to popular streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video and Youtube, and usually create a fragmented experience - moving from the TV channels to a separate HDMI input.

Strong from a successful launch in the UK in 2018 (where netgem.tv is an Amazon best seller and has recently been awarded by Expert Reviews as the ‘best TV experience of 2019’) Netgem is launching netgem.tv, with the promise to bring together saorview channels and growing collection of streaming services, with smart features such as pause, fast forward, record live TV without the price tag from Pay TV offers - and all in one-place on one simple device.

netgem.tv launched on the 25th March on a light HD TV box, and is expanding already into more devices such as connected soundbars, with more content including local catch up, and more distribution channels including innovative Broadband providers looking to grab the “lite Pay TV” trend.

The netgem.tv range of HD box and connected “2 in 1” soundbar is available from today at Harvey Norman, for a discounted launch price of only €99 for the TV streaming box and €249 for the soundbar

Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of netgem.tv said: “The way we view TV is going through a revolution and, at netgem.tv, we’re pleased to bring together the best of Pay-TV with the best of Free-TV to the Irish market - delivering the greatest value content across all consumer segments.

“We’ve innovated the TV streaming experience by combining live TV with pause and recording, together with internet streaming, reinventing TV with a simple, affordable, and intuitive TV service to suit every user. ”

Aaron Duff, Product and Marketing Manager for TV & Audio, Harvey Norman Ireland said: “I think it’s really important that we have a TV service option with no monthly fees here in Ireland and now we have it.

“I’m really excited to have netgem.tv in Harvey Norman stores across the country and on our site.“

What is the netgem.tv service?

More time watching, less time searching. The netgem.tv service offers 50,000+ hours of content including Ireland’s best channels from RTE One, RTE 2, Virgin Media (One, Two and Three), TG4, plus access to leading streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, HayU, Hopster, FailArmy, Deezer & many more. Newly refreshed content is always presented by relevance and category, rather than leaving the viewer to face a wall of apps.

The most intuitive TV experience. The Internet streaming service runs through netgem.tv devices to amplify and combine the best content with the best viewing and sound experience. The Irish market will have access to the only TV streaming devices to offer a complete upgrade to a TV set giving access to thousands of hours of On-Demand content. The service allows users to fast forward up to two hours and works as a remote control, making it that easy for customers to setup and enjoy at their fingertips.

Great value TV content, first. The netgem.tv service gives families, movie-buffs, TV bingers and children access to the multi-room functionality - with one app able to stream to multiple screens in the home. The philosophy of the service is to always present content that is relevant to the viewer, and netgem.tv will always prominently present the ‘free-to-view’ or ‘free-for-me’ content.

The best value Recording device. The device also has the option for viewers to record with a helpful personal video recording (PVR) function. Using any USB memory stick, TV programmes can be saved for later viewing, meaning no one in the family misses the show they love.
