Schneider Electric fortifies support for hybrid cloud environments

Schneider Electric today unveiled in Hong Kong new features of its expanded EcoStruxure IT platform to better support hybrid cloud environments.

The latest innovation to the platform is called EcoStruxure IT Advisor, a DCIM (data center infrastructure management) solution that is available on the cloud and on-premise.

The platform also includes EcoStruxure IT Expert, offering secure, vendor agnostic, wherever-you-go monitoring software with visibility of all IoT-enabled physical infrastructure assets, and EcoStruxure Asset Advisor which provides 24x7 monitoring by the Schneider Electric global service bureau or through its partner network.

Together with the company’s EcoStruxure IT Expert and EcoStruxure Asset Advisor, the platform now provides a comprehensive cloud-based architecture purpose-built for hybrid IT and data center environments.

“It delivers a new standard for proactive insights on critical assets that impact the health and availability of an IT environment with actionable real-time recommendations,” said Fergus Wong, business development & product manager, Secure Power Division at Schneider Electric Hong Kong. “Thus, helping local data centers of all sizes and scales overcome their management challenges today and tomorrow to support hybrid IT environment.”

Vendor-neutral planning and modelling software

Harnessing the power of the cloud, EcoStruxure IT Advisor focuses on making data center management and operations more efficient.

According to Wong, it addresses customers’ needs in managing hybrid data centre architectures with powerful cloud-based or on-premise planning and modelling software, accessible from anywhere and at any-time. This enables data centres professionals to reduce operating expenses through a flexible subscription model and maximize uptime by optimizing capacity, analyzing business impact, and automating workflows.

“Hybrid data centre architectures are driving the industry to rethink the way their data centre infrastructure is managed and operated,” said Kim Povlsen, vice president and general manager for Digital Services and Software at Schneider Electric. “EcoStruxure IT Advisor addresses this need by offering customers a powerful cloud-based or on-premise data centre planning and modelling software, accessible from anywhere, and delivered with a flexible subscription model.”

According to Schneider Electric, EcoStruxure IT Advisor’s key features and benefits include:

  • Asset management for accurate inventory – Data is shown within the physical layout for instant access to improve accuracy of device details and asset attributes.
  • Risk planning for proactive incident management – The Impact Analysis report indicates how incidents may impact devices and infrastructure.
  • Change management for all asset moves, adds and changes – Workflow automation ensures human error is reduced and best practices are deployed.

For colocation providers, EcoStruxure IT Advisor offers a floor view with areas, cages and racks, and IT assets, along with detailed floor and rack utilization reports.

“We are witnessing astounding growth and transformation of data centre industry in this digital era. Data centres provide great support to Hong Kong’s pillar industries and other emerging service industries, such as the financial services, insurance, trading and logistics sectors,” Wong said.

He added: “To keep up with the rising demand, there is a need for innovative solutions that are easy to deploy in this hybrid ecosystem, like EcoStruxure IT Advisor, to effectively improve data centre operation and infrastructure planning, while also optimizing data centre investment.”
